Printing and pricing

Printing options

Peppermint Press offers three different printing methods for your invitations:

1. You print it

Printing at home is the perfect option for the budget-conscious bride or for some quick children’s party invites.

Make sure your printer can handle heavy weights of invitation card by doing some test printing. If your paper needs to do a loop-de-loop inside your machine, chances are heavy paper wont bend it’s way through there. If the paper feeds from front to back, you may be able to print on up to 250-300gsm card. Buy a couple of sheets of card for test printing before you purchase a whole packet.

Alternatively your local print shop (for example: Kwik Kopy, Snap Printing, Worldwide Online Printing, etc) can do your invite printing. You can usually supply your own card up to 270-300gsm in weight or they may offer their own speciality paper ranges for you to choose from.

Most of our invites are A6 in size and we supply them two-up on an A4 sheet in your PDF file so you’ll get two invites on each A4 sheet you have printed. Also ask your print shop about cutting all your invites with a guilottine. Saves you trimming the designs from the A4 sheets!

2. We print it

Don’t have time to fuss about with printing? Let us take care of it. Your invites will be digitally printed to the highest standards on your choice of card. We currently offer white and cream card in smooth, lightly textured or shimmer/metallic. Printed samples available on request for $10. This price includes 2 of your favourite designs printed on a couple of different paper stocks to help you decide. Please email via the contact page to order samples.

3. Letterpress

Our most luxurious form of printing, letterpress is a traditional and time-honoured printing method which is popular for very special occasions. Pricing for letterpress can be found in the link below but if you have any further questions about this printing technique, please email via our contact page.

Paper Guide

We love pretty papers! If you are printing at home you can find lovely paper/card stocks at your local art store or scrapbooking shop, or search the internet for wedding paper suppliers if you are out of town.

Try approx 250gsm - 270gsm paper. A lightly textured stock (try 'Oxford' card or Lexel 'Felt' or ) in white or cream. These textured cards will give your invites old world charm. Shimmer papers (such as Stardream and Curious Metallics) give a special shine. Make sure you do some test prints before you buy a whole packet of paper.

Notes on Shimmer/Metallic papers:

Some shimmer papers work great on home printers but the ink may 'bleed' a little so your design will be less sharp. Your printer may not print so well on one brand of paper but produce perfect clear prints on another. Your local print shop uses laser printing technology which doesn't cause ink bleed if you are experiencing this problem at home.

Notes on Shimmer/Metallic papers:

Your desktop printer ink will usually print on textured card beautifully. However some print shop laser printers may print a little patchy & uneven as the laser toner doesn't "fuse" into the deeper areas of the texture, so you will need to find a more subtly textured or smooth stock.

A wonderful idea is to wrap your invite in a sheath of vellum (semi-transparent) patterned paper and seal with a custom sticker or some pretty ribbon. Many of the designs at Peppermint Press come up a treat with some tiny adhesive rhinestones or pearls. Use your imagination to dress up your invite and make it your own!
